Jasim appointed Director of Endocrine Neoplasia Services 

Dr. Sina Jasim, MD, was appointed Director of Endocrine Neoplasia Services at WashU Medicine’s Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Lipid Research in March 2025. Since joining the institution in 2017, Dr. Jasim has significantly advanced clinical care and educational initiatives related to thyroid disease and endocrine neoplasia. Her comprehensive patient care includes managing thyroid nodules and cancer, multiple endocrine neoplasia, pheochromocytoma, paraganglioma syndromes, adrenal cancer, and other endocrine neoplasms. 

Dr. Jasim’s distinguished career began with her focus on thyroid cancer and endocrine tumors at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. She further refined her expertise during her Endocrinology training at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, where she also served as an Instructor in Medicine. 

Throughout her career, Dr. Jasim has made substantial contributions to national organizations such as the American Thyroid Association, the Endocrine Society, and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology (AACE). She has served on numerous national committees focused on annual meeting planning, educational initiatives, and clinical practice guidelines. Notably, she chaired the AACE Thyroid Disease State Network for two years. Her editorial leadership is evident from her role as Editor-in-Chief of the AACE’s Clinical Case Reports journal from 2020 to 2025, along with her participation on several editorial boards.

Dr. Jasim’s research focuses on thyroid tumors, endocrine neoplasia, and hormonal disorders. She employs a systematic, multidisciplinary approach to improve patient outcomes. She has authored numerous white papers, consensus statements, and practice guidelines on key topics such as advanced thyroid cancer, thyroid disorders related to immunotherapy, and multiple endocrine neoplasia (MEN1). Dr. Jasim has published more than 45 peer-reviewed articles, along with editorials and book chapters. A comprehensive list of her publications is available on her PubMed profile. 

As part of her commitment to providing cutting-edge treatments, Dr. Jasim offers radiofrequency ablation (RFA) for benign thyroid nodules — a safe, minimally invasive alternative to surgery. This advanced procedure effectively shrinks benign thyroid nodules while preserving thyroid function, significantly reducing the risk of scarring and avoiding the need for more invasive surgery. Patients benefit from a quicker recovery time and a less invasive approach to managing their thyroid conditions. These services are currently available at Washington University. 

In recognition of her exemplary contributions to the field, Dr. Jasim has been honored with several accolades, including the 2023 AACE Rising Star in Endocrinology award. With her unwavering commitment to excellence, Dr. Jasim continues to make significant strides in advancing the field of endocrine oncology.
