In March, the administrative office of the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Lipid Research ranked level Gold in the Washington University’s Green Office Program.
Coordinated by the Office of Sustainability, the Green Office Program is accompanied by it’s partner, the Green Lab Program.
The programs consist of a framework and set of resources that aid in reducing the environmental footprint of Washington University. To become certified within the programs, participants must perform a self-assessment checklist, which allows them to evaluate their office or lab’s practices, set goals and be recognized for their sustainability efforts. Each checklist has points that are automatically added up, which specify what level of certification participating offices or labs will receive. Certifications are ranked at Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum.
The administrative office first joined the program in 2023, ranking at level Silver. Shortly after, Millman Lab of the division joined in the sustainability initiative, ranking level gold in the Green Lab Program.
