Earlier this year, Carlos Bernal-Mizrachi, MD and Amy Riek, MD attended the 20th Workshop on Vitamin D in Orlando, Florida. The workshop is a multi-day forum where the latest research on Vitamin D is presented, debated and shared. The Vitamin D Workshops bring together researchers, clinicians and nutrition experts from around the globe. The annual Workshop, which began in 1973, is organized by a dedicated group of internationally recognized scientists who are experts on Vitamin D.

The Plenary Poster session was held on the first day of the workshop. First author, Jisu Oh and her co-authors won the Best of Plenary Posters award for their poster: Deletion of Macrophage Vitamin D Receptor Induces Hypertension. Co-authors include Isra Darwech, Amy Riek, Sharrell Bindom, Scot Matkovich, Richard Head, Mark Sands, Geert Carmeliet, and Carlos Bernal-Mizrachi.

The research paper, Deletion of JNK2 prevents vitamin-D-deficiency-induced hypertension and atherosclerosis in mice (available online now) will be published in the Journal of Steroid Biochemistry & Molecular Biology.

Over the three days of the meeting, forty-five talks from invited speakers and promoted abstracts were presented. Every year The Workshop on Vitamin D publishes highlights of presentations and session summaries in the Journal of Steroid Biochemistry & Molecular Biology.
