In May, Sina Jasim, MD, MPH and colleagues released the 2023 American Association of Clinical Endocrinology (AACE) updated protocol which summarizes their new framework for “the development of clinical practice guidelines and other guidance documents that includes changes to methodology, processes, and policies.”
The authors determined areas for improvement through critical review of years of their development processes. These updates incorporate many revisions of their policies and adopted new methodology for “guideline development in support of the mission to elevate the practice of clinical endocrinology to improve patient care.”
AACE hopes that these enhancements will foster an approach to development that is more collaborative and increases engagement within the medical community that aids in the improvement of global health.
