Larry Spears, PhD

Congratulations to Larry Spears, PhD who was awarded the Early Career Investigator Travel Stipend Award at the Kern Lipid Conference 2016 held in Vail, Colorado. The annual conference is held to promote science that relates to the broad areas of lipid, cholesterol, bile acid and lipoprotein metabolism and the pathobiologies associated with disordered lipid metabolism.

Larry Spears received his PhD in biology from Saint Louis University in 2012 . While at SLU, he studied the pathways in which exercise and insulin increase glucose transport into muscle, under the direction of Dr. Jonathan Fisher. Spears joined Dr. Clay Semenkovich’s laboratory as a postdoctoral research scholar to study lipid metabolism in 2012.
