Dr. Herrick is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Lipid Research at Washington University School of Medicine. She received her medical degree and Master of Population Health Sciences from Washington University School of Medicine. She completed her internal medicine residency at the Massachusetts General Hospital, returning to Washington University/Barnes-Jewish Hospital for endocrinology fellowship.
She has a general endocrinology clinical practice and serves as co-director of the Washington University Adult Transgender Center. She is passionate about integrating health equity in her research and clinical care. She has conducted research on postpartum diabetes screening and prevention among women on Medicaid after a pregnancy complicated by gestational diabetes and continues to focus on social drivers of health and transitions of care in diabetes prevention and management. Her current work concentrates on evaluating and improving access to gender affirming care and expanding the evidence base on gender affirming hormone therapy and health outcomes. She is a dedicated advocate for improving access to quality, coordinated care for under-resourced and marginalized communities.
