Philip Cryer, MD

Philip E. Cryer, MD is featured in the December 15 issue of Diabetes Care for his influential contributions to the understanding of hypoglycemia and glucose counterregulation, as well as his discovery of the syndrome of hypoglycemia-associated autonomic failure.

Dr. Cryer is a translational investigator who has studied the mechanisms that prevent or correct hypoglycemia in patients with diabetes. He served as editor-in-chief of the journal Diabetes and as president of the American Diabetes Association from 1996-97. The American Diabetes Association recognized Dr. Cryer with its Banting Medal for Scientific Achievement in 1994 and with the Albert Renold Award in 2010.
