Maria S. Remedi, PhD and Esmeralda Castelblanco, PhD recently attended the 2024 60th Annual Meeting hosted by the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD). The four-day meeting took place in Madrid, Spain from September 10-13, welcoming over 12,300 participants from more than 130 countries.
Congratulations to Dr. Castelblanco on delivering an exceptional talk on their research titled, “Role of Autophagy and Intermittent Fasting in Beta-Cell Mass and Identity in KATP-Induced Neonatal Diabetes,” which was selected for an oral presentation in the session Islets Forever: Survival of the Beta Cells.
The unpublished findings in this study emphasize the crucial role of autophagy in preserving the identity and function of pancreatic insulin-producing beta cells.
